The Bordeaux first-growth wines Margaux and Haut-Brion are performing extremely strongly, commanding a greater market share than the other three first-growth Bordeaux wines, Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite and Latour, combined.
During the last two weeks the estates of Margaux and Haut-Brion have sold enough to account for 21 per cent of the market share. Just a year ago, the figure was 3 per cent.
In July Bordeaux's overall share of trade was 76 per cent – its second lowest share in nine years.
