At a recent event for New York tech company Artsy, attendees snapped up canapes prepared by Senegalese chef Pierre Thiam. Later this month, the city will also host a restaurant week dedicated solely to African food.
It proves what many in the community have known for a long time. African food is becoming trendy, particularly in the culinary capital that is New York.
Thiam and fellow restauranteur Papa Diagne are planning on opening a restaurant together in Brooklyn.
"We've been doing our ventures in Brooklyn for the past 25 years. All of my restaurants, all of his restaurants, were always in Brooklyn. Now Brooklyn's being recognized as that place. It's a foodie destination for sure," says Diagne.
To celebrate this burgeoning foodie movement, we've curated a selection of the most drool-worthy images of African dishes in New York. Love African food? Share your favorite food pics (no matter where you are) on the @CNNInsideAfrica twitter account, and tag #africanfoodporn.
