Core Tip: The German franchise of the global fast food group KFC has launched a new food tray in its German restaurants which includes a keyboard. The tray effectively stops the customer from getting food grease on his or her electronic device.

Noticing that customers wanted to use their phones and iPads whilst eating at their restaurants, the chain has introduced a thin tray keyboard which customers connect too and can touch instead of their devices.

The keyboard is made from paper and is only 4 mm thick. It is said to be re-usable and tough enough to take the grease and liquids.
The tray is also wireless, rechargeable and customers connect to it via Bluetooth.

The tray idea emerged from discussion by KFC in conjunction with an advertising agency, Serviceplan. A trial showed that customers were fascinated by the technology.

“Every one of the trays was taken home,” the advertising agency said about the tray’s launch.

Although there are currently no plans for the tray to be introduced in other countries, the idea is sure to catch on elsewhere as an amazing innovation.
