The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) is holding a congress in Budapest between 27 and 29 May; the international event has attracted nearly 200 participants coming from 35 countries, as reported by the organisers.
The congress has been organised jointly by the Wholesale Market Budapest Nagybani PIAC and the Metropolitan Municipality Hall and Market Directorate, an organisation of the retail markets operating in the Hungarian capital, and is primarily targeted at promoting cooperation in the wholesale and retail markets.
Pets Zoltan, CEO of the Budapest Wholesale Market, explained in a press release that the Congress offers a good opportunity to show how the wholesale market can connect primary agricultural producers with wholesalers and their customers. The Budapest Wholesale Market is actually renowned for its higher than average (at an international level) collaboration with domestic primary producers and small farms.
The Congress will welcome wholesalers, distributors, food safety experts, food specialists, producers and researchers, among others.
