Core Tip: Woolworths’ marketing leadership team has experienced another sudden change in personnel and a cloud of uncertainty has arisen. It was only recently that Chief Marketing Officer, Tony Phillips, left the company suddenly and unexpectedly without an announc
Now as reported by Fairfax, Jess Gill, the Coles ” Director of Customer, Brand and Format” has walked out the front door. Gill had previously headed the Woolworths marketing team but Phillips became the Chief Marketing Officer in early 2014.

Gill joined Woolworths in 2013 prior to which she was with Sydney boutique marketing agency, Growth Mantra.

There has been speculation that her departure is the result of a major reorganisation headed by Brad Banducci, Managing Director of the Australian Food and Liquor division in Woolworths.

Banducci is said to be moving Woolworths marketing to a flatter structure and rumours have been circulating that there are more changes to come.

All of the changes come after the supermarket’s recent investor strategy day where a management shuffle of personnel was foreshadowed.

“We will reduce further non-customer roles by a further 400 positions by the end of H1 – FY16 as we continue to identify process improvements,” Woolworths Limited CEO, Grant O’Brien, had declared as part of the briefing .
