Tomato prices in the southern regions of Ukraine have sharply dropped, deeply affecting producers who relied on a spike in demand on the eve of the holidays, reports "APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits". Since the beginning of the week, prices have fallen by almost 40%.
Such drastic changes are the result of the entry into the market of private producers, which suffered delays as a result of cloudy and cold weather. it is worth noting that, in previous years, the price of Ukrainian tomatoes has traditionally started to decline rapidly before the middle of May.
In dollar terms, tomato prices in Ukraine are now almost 25% cheaper; a fact which is very upsetting for local greenhouse owners, who believe that in the coming days the downward trend in prices will only grow stronger due to the impact of the Russian ban.
