The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has unveiled plans to recruit an agency to undertake study on consumption pattern of caffeinated/energy drinks in the country.
The food safety regulator has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) to appoint suitable agency for reviewing caffeine standards in caffeinated and energy drinks.
Caffeinated and energy drinks are non-alcoholic beverages that include caffeine, guarana, glucuronolactone, taurine, ginseng, inositol, carnitine, B-vitamins as main ingredients, which act as stimulants.
FSSAI plans to carry out study on the consumption pattern of these drinks among the young people in the country in the light of rising consumption.
The target group for the study includes teenagers and youngsters, comprising students, young professionals, managers and office goers.
Geographical coverage of the study will be across tier-I, tier-II and tier-III cities of the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
