Thai Beverage's global unit International Beverage has made its entry into the Indian spirits market with the launch of single malts and gins.
International Beverage will now market and distribute the products, under a partnership with Dhall Beverages after attempting to enter the Indian market for five years.
The company launched single malt scotch whiskies including Old Pulteney, Balblair and Speyburn in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh and Bengaluru, while a Scottish gin Caorunn will be available only in Mumbai and Delhi.
International Beverage International Sales vice president Malcolm Leask said: "The past few years have seen a real acceleration and taste for luxury imported goods -- especially in the top metros.
"There is less depth in the super-premium liquor market, while the domestic beer market is well supplied in this country."
Of all whisky sales, premium whisky accounts for only 4% in the country.
