Dongfang, a Chinese citrus company has used a launch on the Australian stock exchange this week to tell Australian growers it can help them reach a market of 1.3 billion people.
The company has 8,600 hectares of tangerines, pomelos, camellias and oranges, producing 200,000 tonnes of fruit in China. Their harvest revenue is predicted to be $176 million. Dongfang plans to become the largest harvester of citrus and camellia seed products and one of its key strategies is to seek investment in Australia.
"The recent free trade agreement between China and Australia demonstrates the growing relationship between our two nations." said company chairman Hongwei Cai.
"We see a bright future in which both countries benefit, not only through trade, but also through investment opportunities, such as Dongfang."
