In the first seven months of 2015, Russia imported a total of 4,186 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables, of which 17.8 thousand tonnes corresponded to products from countries affected by the Russian embargo, while the remaining 4,168 million tonnes were imported from other countries, informs FAMMU/FAPA with data from Factsheet Russia.
Of the said volume, approximately 2,749 million tonnes corresponded to fruit and the other 1.437 million tonnes to vegetables. For comparison, in the same period of 2014, the volume of Russia's horticultural imports amounted to 5,252 million tonnes, of which 1.475 million tonnes came from countries currently affected by the ban. The volume imported from third countries before the introduction of the embargo was of 3.678 million tonnes.
During the first seven months of the year, Russia's largest fruit and vegetable suppliers have been Ecuador, Turkey and Belarus. The most imported products have been bananas, apples, tomatoes and mandarins.
