Last Wednesday in the Southern Rio Grand Valley, New Mexico, farmers were hit by a hail storm which destroyed some of their crops.
The hailstorm battered the pecan trees, however not all the crop was knocked off the trees and can still be harvested when ready, but this is only about half of the crop. The nuts that fell to the ground can be salvaged depending on the weather.
If these nuts cannot be salvaged, farmers could lose up to $500,000, if they can they will only lose £30,000-$40,000.
