Over 3 tons of fresh Cat Chu mangoes from the Dong Thap province in Mékong have been exported to Japan. These Vietnamese mangoes will be sold all over Japan, in 209 supermarkets and shopping malls belonging to large Japanese retailer, Aeon. The mangoes will each be sold for 479 or 645 yens (incl. tax) depending on the calibre (€3.62-€4.87). At the end of the year an extra 80 tons will be sent by plane and sea.

The Japanese enjoy fresh mangoes, and when they are from Japan the fruit can reach 5,000-10,000 yens (€37-€75). At a much reasonable price, the Cat Chu mango will undoubtedly please the Japanese consumers. After exporting the Cat Chu mangoes, Vietnam is expected to export red-skinned dragon fruit to Japan.
