'Forgotten vegetables' are no longer being forgotten. Various new concepts are being developed to remind consumers about these vegetables. Exporter Pacbelimex is one company that is responding to this trend, "Starting this week we offer a package filled with the so-called 'forgotten vegetables'," says seller Brecht Decaestecker. "By doing this, we are trying to bring more attention to these products."

Mix of products
The package contains celery root, parsnip, beets, yellow and purple carrots and Jerusalem artichoke, "At the request of customers we can also put together a different mix of vegetables. The products are packaged here in a special wooden box weighing 2.5 kilos. In this way customers can buy various vegetables at once and no longer have to purchase them separately."

Popular
The full package has just been introduced and is already quite popular, "We have already delivered the packages to France and they are selling very well, both in supermarkets and wholesale markets. There is demand from other countries as well, and a good deal of demand coming from Northern Europe. We expect interest in these packages to rise and we have the impression that they will sell quite well."

Pacbelimex exports to both retailers and wholesalers, "We try as much as possible to sell the packages at a fixed price, although it depends on the market." Pacbelimex is an exporter, but they would also like to start responding more to niche markets, "We noticed that there was demand for this type of thing so we wanted to do more with the demand that was there. There may also be new plans coming soon as well."
