In the second week of November, avocados have registered the most noticeable price increase in Mexico; in fact, the fruit has become 22 percent more expensive, according to the Federal Attorney's Office of Consumer (Profeco).
In markets like Merida, Yucatan, a kilo of avocados has reached 1.12 Euro, while the price of tomatoes and lemons stood at 0.56 Euro per kilo. Meanwhile, in markets of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, the kilo of avocados reached 1.52 Euro; lemons stood at 0.92 Euro and onions at 0.79 Euro. In Puebla, avocados have been sold for 1.80 Euro per kilo, and in Guadalajara they reached 1.63 Euro.
