The price of Mexican lime per kilogram continues with the downward trend it’s had for more than a week and a kilogram doesn’t exceed 3.40 pesos. Lime producers from the Tianguis Limonero, located on the road from Apatzingán to Aguililla, continue attributing this crisis to the fact that the supply of this citrus is currently higher than its demand.

Producers at the storage and marketing centers said that the price of lime had ranged between three and four pesos in recent days. Many say they can still profit from these prices, but some say it is important to promote some action aimed at increasing the price of this fruit.

They said that more than 4,000 tons of fruit worth more than 13,600,000 pesos had been sold this week, and that those profits were distributed among all members of the citrus production chain, but especially between the producers and harvesters working cutting the lime in the area of Tierra Caliente.

They also said that they hoped that prices would start rebounding in late November or early December, because that’s when winter will be in full swing, and producers kept their orchards in optimal conditions to increase production during December, January and February.
