In the past years, export of fresh products from Vietnam to China has been increasing. Between January and September 2015, China imported agricultural products with a value of 2.1 billion USD from Vietnam, an increase of 23% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, over the same period, China exported agricultural products with a value of 2.4 USD to Vietnam, a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.

Currently, Vietnam is China's sixth biggest export country and tenth biggest import country regarding agricultural products.

Vietnam is a large pitaya producer. Every morning, pitayas are picked from plantations in Vietnam and brought to the Pingxiang entry port in Guangxi, at the border between China and Vietnam.

Pingxiang entry port is the biggest fruit import and export port in China. A "Green Channel" has been opened to facilitate fruit import and export. The Chinese Inspection Supervision Bureau inspects following rules and regulations based on relevant trade agreements between China and Vietnam.

Within 36 hours, pitayas from Vietnam can reach Chinese consumers through retail channels such as vegetable markets, supermarkets, regional fruit shops and internet sale platforms.
