The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has reported that the country's total fruit and vegetable exports so far this year have amounted to 4 million and 816 thousand tonnes.
The report, released by the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, has estimated Egyptian fruit exports at 1 million 436 thousand tonnes. Citrus shipments have totalled 1 million and 398 thousand tonnes and vegetables have reached 1 million and 36 thousand tonnes. Potato exports have stood at 634 thousand tonnes and onions have reached a total of 186 thousand tonnes. Other key exports are grapes, with 88 thousand tonnes, and strawberries with 38 thousand tonnes.
The report also highlighted the development of detailed plans for the application of good practices in agriculture and the expansion of agricultural exports. The Ministry of Agriculture announced plans to open new markets for the import and export of agricultural products in China, Indonesia, North America and Japan, in addition to traditional markets such as the EU, Russia and the Persian Gulf.
