Mexico's Federal Attorney's Office of Consumer (PROFECO) reported that in self-service centres of the Federal District and the metropolitan area the price of a kilo of avocados stood at 26.69 pesos*, while onions, tomatoes and lemons reached 23.04, 23.31 and 15.70 pesos, respectively.
For the second consecutive week, onions registered the most considerable drops in the basic shopping basket, with Monterrey recording the most significant decline, falling from 16 to 12 pesos per kilo.
At the supply centre in Mexico City, minimum variations were recorded; a kilo of avocados was sold for 20 pesos, tomatoes for 14 pesos and lemon and onions stood at 10 pesos per kilo.
In Mérida, Yucatan, avocados reached 15 pesos, while the kilogram of onions was sold for 9 pesos, lemons for 6 pesos and tomatoes for 5.90 pesos.
In markets of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, avocados stood at 24 pesos, lemon at 14 pesos, and onion and tomatoes cost 12 and 10 pesos, respectively.
In Markets of Guadalajara, Jalisco, the kilo of avocados was sold for 30 pesos, tomatoes for 14 pesos and onions and lemons were both sold for 12 pesos per kilo.
In Guanajuato, tomatoes were marketed for 14 pesos per kilo, while lemons and onions cost 10 pesos per kilo.
In Puebla, avocados cost 30 pesos per kilo, lemons stood at a price of 12 pesos per kilo, while onions and tomatoes were both sold for 10 pesos per kilo.
