80% of Israelis eat fresh produce every day

The TNS Institute recently conducted a survey among the adult population in Israel in order to examine the country's consumption habits when it comes to fruit and vegetables.

According to the survey, 80% of Israel's citizens consume fruits and vegetables almost on a daily basis, which is considered an indication about the high public awareness of the health benefits of eating fruits and vegetables. In contrast, 10.9% of respondents stated that they consume fruits and vegetables only two or three times a week.

When it comes to the most popular fruits, citrus fruits top the ranking with 41.4%; watermelons follow with 35.1% and in third place we find grapes, with 11.6%.

As for field vegetables, tomatoes are the undisputed leader, with 44.4%. 54% of respondents said they prefer their tomato in salads; 17.9% said that they like to eat them as they are, while 11% prefer to consume tomatoes in Shakshuka.
In second place in the vegetable category we have lettuce, with 19.4%, followed by cucumbers in third place, with 17.4%.

The survey was conducted by TNS institute among 499 respondents aged 18 and older, who are a representative sample of Israel's adult population. The sampling error was - 4.4%.
