The Government of the people's Republic of China has pledged to support organized agriculture business groups in Uganda; through the ambassador to Uganda, Zhao Yali, they will put aside sh60b towards projects aimed at commercializing agriculture.
Yali said, "My government is committed to working closely with Uganda because the country is endowed with enough land to spur agriculture."
His comment comes at a time General Salim Saleh, the head of Operation Wealth Creation just commissioned the unveiling of a tractor called MV Mulimi, a Presidential Initiative on science and technology at Makerere University Research Institute, Kabanyolo.
Charles Angina, the deputy Commander of Defense Forces (CDF) said Uganda is moving in the right direction under prioritization of agricultural programmes through wealth creation initiatives and applauded the Chinese government for not only supporting Uganda but having projects across Africa.
Last year, President Yoweri Museveni attended the China Africa Summit, where the Chinese government donated four-wheel tractors to the government to signify China-Uganda's continued mutual relationship towards growth.
