Bombay Vintage, a retro bar, was launched here recently. The new restaurant celebrates old roots of rich heritage in Mumbai with its fusion food menu which is designed to suit the tradition of 'dabbawalas.'

“I am very happy that I am associated with this place. We have a blend of the most popular recipes with a touch of the international cuisines. I had been involved in fusion food since 20 years. Back in Kolkata, I started my own restaurant which had fusion food but it was not much popular then. Now after 20 years people are liking it,” said chef Pradip Rozario.

On the occasion of the launch, Suresh Bhandaary from Bollywood Mischief Hospitality Worldwide Pvt Ltd said, “To complete the vintage look to the restaurant, the menu and the cocktails are inspired by renowned mixologist and F&B consultant Naveen Deju Kotyankar, who is well known for making a mark across restaurants like Cafe Zoe, Kurry Klub, Lagerbay, the Pali Village etc.”

“Usually we see most of the fusions which we have are adding up Indian spices to an international delicacy. But here in Bombay Vintage we have sought a different way out for this. We have Indian cuisine at the base of every delicacy and a simple touch across the borders. I and Suresh have been together since a long time. We worked earlier to launch fusion food Mecca Kurry Club in India which is primarily known for its fusion food in Mumbai,” added Rozario

The place has fusion mixes like sabudana croquettes, pav bhaji sandwich, chicken and mutton misal pav and English pav bhaji. In breakfast, the restaurant has appam with fried egg base, chicken/ mutton mince, the Bombay coast burger with a crumb fried seafood melange, cajun spiced chicken pizza or the lamb bolognaise pizza.

“We have also sourced old world artifacts like wall hangings, old pendulum clocks and paintings to present the vintage décor from 70s. Keeping in mind, the 'dabbawalas' tradition of Mumbai, we serve food in dabbas that hark back to heritage of dabbawalas in Mumbai. I hope that it will be liked by the city,” said Bhandaary.
