Dublin-based Guinness brand will launch two beers in the US- Guinness Dublin Porter and Guinness West Indies Porter, brewed with recipes from brewing books that date back to 200 years.

Developed by The Brewers Project, the two beers were the brainchild of a small group of Guinness brewers in Dublin, who created new recipes while reinterpreting older versions.

Guinness North America brand director Emma Giles said: "Each beer in this collection is telling part of the Guinness story, not just our beer but our people who made it, capturing the enterprising spirit and credible talent of our brewers then and now.

"This is the first time the Dublin Porter and West Indies Porter will be available in the US since their original incarnations more than 200 years ago. It's a great example of what our brewers are capable of and shows how passionate they are about pushing boundaries and bringing quality brews to today's beer lovers to enjoy responsibly."

These two porters were previously available only in the UK and Ireland. Each brew comes with a label that is inspired by the original bottle designs.

The Guinness Dublin Porter was originally created in 1796 when the company brewed its own Irish version of porter at St. James's Gate and then transported it to England. The Irish brew, which originated in London, was earthy and lively in flavour.

Dublin Porter, with 3.8% ABV, on the other hand offers a sweet, smooth texture with malt caramel flavour and hoppy aroma along with a burnt biscuit finish.

The Guinness West Indies Porter, with 6% ABV, was created by the company which can maintain its freshness and quality while being transported onboard of ships to West Indies, on one month journey.

The brew was developed in 1801, to meet the sea challenges with higher hops and more gravity. Today, the drink is based on the original recipe carrying generous amount of hops and caramel-toffee notes which offers the brew a sweet, chocolate-like aroma.

Starting February 2016, the Guinness Dublin Porter and West Indies Porter will be available at participating stores of Costco, Sam's, BJ's, and Total Wine & More locations, for a suggested retail price of $21.99.
