Considerable reduction of Russia’s pear imports

Core Tip: In the first three quarters of last year, Russia imported only 194.4 thousand tonnes of pears, compared to the 305.4 thousand tonnes of the same period of 2014 and the 266.3 thousand tonnes imported two years earlier, reports FAMMU/FAPA.
In the first three quarters of last year, Russia imported only 194.4 thousand tonnes of pears, compared to the 305.4 thousand tonnes of the same period of 2014 and the 266.3 thousand tonnes imported two years earlier, reports FAMMU/FAPA.

In the period from January to September 2015, the largest volume was imported from Belarus, with 71.7 thousand tonnes, compared to just 14.8 thousand tonnes a year earlier and 8.7 thousand tonnes two years ago. The second largest supplier was Argentina, which supplied Russia with 66.8 thousand tonnes of pears, and third in the ranking was South Africa, with shipments amounting to around 17 thousand tonnes.

Other important pear suppliers during the first nine months of last year were China, with 12.4 thousand tonnes; Chile, with 7.8 thousand tonnes; Serbia, with over 4 thousand tonnes and Turkey and Morocco, with around 3 thousand tonnes.
