The 2015 stonefruit campaign was marked by stability in the entire export sector. Peach and nectarine exports amounted to 849,502 tonnes, slightly higher than the figure achieved in the previous year, when 843,310 tonnes were shipped. By contrast, there was a significant growth in the export volumes of apricots, with 79,842 tonnes (+41.39%), while plum shipments dropped to 108,616 tonnes (-7%) and cherries fell to 26,371 tonnes (-7%). The total value of exports amounted to 1,102 million Euro.
With regard to prices, the campaign was characterised by a drop in prices from July, a period that coincides with the start of the production period in areas of northern Spain, as well as France and Italy.
The situation of the stonefruit market will be discussed in depth at the 3rd edition of the Technical Fruit Growing Conference, organised by the Asociación de Empresarios Agrícolas de la Margen Derecha del Ebro (the Association of Agricultural Producers on the right bank of the Ebro), AEAMDE, which is integrated into FEPEX. The event will be held on 25, 26 and 27 February in the auditorium of the Polytechnic University of La Almunia de Doña Godina.
