US Foods has agreed to acquire New England-based wholesale food and food-related products distributor Cara Donna Provision for an undisclosed sum.
Cara Donna, a family-owned business, distributes food and food-related products to restaurants and foodservice customers across New England, serving around 1,300 customers in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine and Connecticut.
During the transition process, Cara Donna's Massachusetts location will remain open through the summer following which the business will be moved to the US Foods location in Seabrook, New Hampshire and Norwich in Connecticut.
Cara Donna exective vice president Joe Cara Donna III said: "We see many similarities between US Foods and Cara Donna, most important of which is the hunger for bringing value to its customers.
"With the size and scale of the company, our customers will now have access to additional products and business solutions."
The transaction is expected to be completed on 4 March.
In December last year, US Foods announced plans to acquire Wisconsin-based foodservice distributor Dierks Waukesha for an undisclosed amount. The deal was completed on 31 December 2015.
Dierks Waukesha is a family - owned company that has been supplying plate items, produce and vegetables to around 3,500 customers throughout US regions of Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Eastern Minnesota.
Through this acquisition, US Foods expected to provide service to customers from both the distribution centers in Wisconsin and the Dierks distribution facility in Waukesha.
One of the owners of Dierks Thomas Muehl and Dierks CEO Kevin Musser joined US Foods. They have been assigned with the task of transforming the business in order to provide seamless customer service.
