UAE-based Delta Food Industries has opened Dh40m ($10.89m) dairy plant in the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone).

The new manufacturing plant will produce evaporated milk and cream.

Delta Food Industries founder and chairman Shiraz Osman was quoted by tradearabia.com as saying: "The production machinery is the latest available in the industry and it is capable of producing 250,000 cartons per month of evaporated milk and cream.

"We are capitalising on the first four years of operation inside the SAIF Zone, with our latest initiative, the dairy plant, which will see the enhancement of capacities as well as the range of products."

Since the past four years, Delta Food has been producing tomato paste, ketchup, hot sauce, milk powder, custard powder, oats and more.

The company claims to have a strong distribution network in 20 countries across the GCC, Middle East, and the African region.

Delta Food Industries managing director Ali Parpinchi was quoted by the publication as saying: "We are going to further increase our portfolio of products in the coming two years."

SAIF Zone and Hamriyah Free Zone Authority director Saud Salim Al Mazrouei was quoted by menafn.com as saying: "We welcome Delta Food Industries' new initiative.

"It is pleasing to see more manufacturing units flocking to SAIF Zone which is surely a sign that we are progressing. I hope that this initiative will enable Delta Food to offer its products locally and regionally and expand its network."

The company earlier said that it plans to undertake massive expansion program under which its product lines would include oats, custard, semolina, starch, glucose powder, instant juice powders, cream, condensed milk and evaporated milk.
