The total volume of cucumbers exported by Spain in 2015 reached 625.42 million kilos, the greatest of all time and the first time that the 600 million kilo mark is surpassed.
Not all is good news, however, since the price reached by exported cucumbers has been the second worst of the decade, only behind 2011, when the sector was affected by the German E. coli crisis.
Thanks to the high export volume, the total value has been very high, with 476.29 million Euro; a figure only ever surpassed in 2013, when Spain generated 479.23 million Euro from the sale of cucumbers overseas.
A total of 497 Spanish companies exported cucumbers in 2015, of which 195 did so from Almeria, 64 from Barcelona, 55 from Valencia, 41 from Alicante, 40 from Murcia, 30 from Granada, 26 from Madrid, 25 from Malaga, 21 from Cadiz, 16 from Castellon and another 10 from Las Palmas and Lleida.
