After Chinese Spring Festival, the vegetable trading in Shouguang Logistic Park gradually returned to its normal level. Contrary to last year's downward vegetable index, this year's vegetable index rose significantly, and this continued until last week, when the vegetable price in this logistic park rose 8.37% in comparison to the same period last year, and year-on-year surged 61%.

Despite the price increase, the month-over-month vegetable trading volume decreased 0.2%, and a year-on-year decrease of 22%.

Based on the vegetable pricing index chart from last week, the index continues to rise. The reasons behind this trend are as follows: the previous bad weather condition led to the slow-growing of vegetables in both the south and north region, and the lean market supply, as a consequence, resulted in the higher vegetable price.

Secondly, the volume of winter storage vegetables gets diminished as the warm weather arrives, certain vegetables are not sufficient in supply, which is also an important factor for the vegetable price increase. Thirdly, spring fresh vegetables are newly listed in the market and their price is relatively high.

However, due to the high demand of customers from certain provinces in Northern region, the price goes up inevitably. Based on the index of 10 vegetable categories last week, the price of seven categories rose, and among which the highest categories are cabbage, onion, ginger and garlic. The category that fell significantly is aquatic vegetable.
