Core Tip: The demand for honeydew melons decreased due to the current supply situation and the price,” states Tim Keller, manager of the fruit wholesaler Reinhard Schmidt Gemüse in Bremen.
“The demand for honeydew melons decreased due to the current supply situation and the price,” states Tim Keller, manager of the fruit wholesaler Reinhard Schmidt Gemüse in Bremen. “The price of honeydew melons rose. And this negatively influenced the sales figures, the demand clearly decreased.”

There have been changes in the supply too. “The supplies have decreased and there are only smaller melons available on the market while the large melons are higher in demand. But the current sizes are normal for this time of the year.” Many melon varieties are now more expensive.

“It is interesting to see that the seedless grapes are, despite the increasing prices, still very popular with the customers. The demand is very high, also in the next week,” explains manager Tim Keller. The fruit wholesaler in Bremen exclusively trades in green seedless grapes.

The regional cabbage varieties are popular too. “The demand for regional cabbage varieties is still extremely high!” states the experienced wholesaler, “The demand for regional produce is increasing and very popular.”
