The second stage of the work being carried out on the Strawberry Market located on Federal Highway 90, between Irapuato and Abasolo, is about to be completed. Alderman Victor Zanella said the administration would support the project as it was one of their campaign commitments. He also indicated that the municipality and the State Government would invest a total of 5 million pesos in the third stage of the project, 2 million pesos and 3 million pesos investment, respectively.
The goal of the Strawberry Market is giving traders a place where they can sell their products and training so that they improve their marketing and production skills. "Many of them export to the United States. We have to find ways to add value to their product," he said.
The director of Public Works, Arturo Rocha Lonas, said: "We are conducting a follow up of the planning and scheduling areas in the third stage. The scope will depend on the resources we have. We have enough money to build shops and offices."
He also indicated that they had to invest in other components, such as an access to the road, both in the slow lane and in another lane to make an entry and exit for the property. There's still a lot of investment to be done, in water infrastructure, plumbing, electrical, lighting, warehouse, and commercial premises, among other items.
Expectations are that, once it is completed, the Market will benefit about 800 traders and producers from 5 municipalities in the state.
