The carrot market is gently continuing. It's calmer than expected for growers and traders. The big question is when it will pull up. According to a Belgian carrot trader that moment could arrive at any time. "The situation could suddenly look completely different next week. We certainly hope it will get busier."
"There is some leaving, but it's not exceptionally busy," he sums up the current situation. The prices remain equal. There is some pressure on the raw material prices in the Netherlands. In Belgium and France the prices are stable and little is happening." Yet he expects the prices to remain around the same level for now. "There are no large shifts at the moment, but there is more supply arriving from some growers. The only thing with a bit of shortage is the coarse carrots."
"What will happen in England, in France and in Central and Eastern Europe? I have no idea. What we can conclude is that it isn't very busy for this time of year. The prices usually go up in this period, but now everything is remaining relatively equal."
