The Ukrainian Association of Retail Chain Suppliers has predicted a drop of between 20 and 50% in the prices of Turkish crops in the case of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance introducing a complete ban on their importation.
This statement was made by the head of the Association, Alex Doroshenko, in an interview by "Ukrainian News".
"When a ban on these products is introduced, they will still have a few months to sell them to the Ukraine. Most likely, we will then see prices fall in the range of 20% to 50%, so we feel that, for the first time, we may actually benefit from the trade wars of other countries; this time, Russia would thankfully be only helping us," he said.
According to Doroshenko, a similar situation has already been observed with oranges, which dropped to prices as low as 18 UAH per kilo (0.63 Euro), and with other fruits, like pomegranates.
