Shaanxi is one of the biggest apple producing regions in China. The province is well connected to Central and Southern Asian markets, and is hoping to increase it exports into these regions.
In total, Shaanxi's apple output accounts for a quarter of total Chinese apple production. Main production area is the region around the city of Yanan.
Shaanxi's apples are exported to over 80 countries. According to local custom statistics, total agriculture product export value declined, the the value of fresh fruits and vegetables have gone up. They estimated a total increase of 35%.
A cross-border E-commerce project has been established between the Chinese city of Luochuan and the Indian market. This is the first time that Yanan apples have been exported to India via online trade. With the introduction of new international freight trains, transport from Central China to Western markets, including Russia, is becoming easier as well.
