Imported grapes are sold easily on the Shanghai Huizhan wholesale market, one of the largest imports markets in China. The market is dominated by red table grapes from Chile and Australia and their prices are stable. The season of Peruvian Red Globe grapes is coming to an end and its prices are going up slightly. Overall, prices have come down slightly compared to last season.
End of Peruvian grape export season
Available volumes of Peruvian Red Globe grapes are small. The crop is fully matured, however, and big in size. The grapes are sold for 170 Yuan per box, equal to 23 Euro. Sweet Panda and Sweet Latina, two top selling Peruvian grape brands at the Shanghai import wholesale market, are doing particularly well and are sold at 220 to 230 Yuan per box. The grapes were sold out quickly.
Chilean grape supply gathering speed
It is still early in the Chilean grape export season. The season has been slightly delayed due to cold weather in Chile. The red grapes that have arrived in Shanghai are not fully matured yet and smaller in size. Prices, however, are relatively high due to limited supply. Prices range between 160 and 180 Yuan per box. This is a 10 to 30 Yuan increase compared to last season's prices around the same time.
Towards the end of this week and at the beginning of the next week more grapes will arrive on the market. It is expected that two large shipments are about to arrive soon, which has made prices come down with 10 to 20 Yuan per box.
Supply of Australian seedless red grapes is steadily increasing. Prices now range between 270 to 280 Yuan per box. Top quality red grapes witnessed a price decrease of 20 to 35 Yuan compared to the 2015 season. Sales are steady however.
