Fruit is healthy and tasty. But according to a recent survey by TNS Emnid 57% of the Germans don’t eat the recommended daily serving of fruit. Nutritionists recommend the consumption of two servings of fruit a day.
19% drink smoothies to meet the daily requirement
Eating fruit is not so hard: 90 percent of respondents meet their needs by eating loose pieces of fruit. Fruit salad was eaten by 40%. And another 19% drink smoothies to meet the daily fruit requirement. A noticeable trend: the younger the respondent, the more often the smoothie was named as their fruit source, 37% of the respondents younger than 30 years compared to 11% of the respondents older than 60. Nearly one third drinks a smoothie at least once a month. Overall, the women are significantly more positive about fruit consumption than men. 53% of women in the survey said they always or almost always had two portions of fruit a day. And only 33% of the men claimed the same, just one third.
The large Smoothie-Report in new online magazine of Kaufland, who ordered the survey, tells more about smoothies. How fast smoothies can be made, the favorite fruit to make them and much more information. But the smoothie trend hasn’t reached everybody. About half of the Germans never drank a smoothie. When asked about the reasons, 58% stated that drinking a smoothie had never crossed their mind. More than a quarter (27%) find the preparation of a smoothie too complicated.
Smoothie-fans particularly like the taste
