PepsiCo unit Quaker Oats Company in Chicago, US, has launched two breakfast products in a bid to meet consumer demand for supergrains.

Consumers are increasingly looking to diversify their grain intake, as well as seeking variety in taste and nutrition. Quaker claims that its new products, SuperGrains Instant Hot Cereal and Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola, contain a blend of grains such as oats, barley, rye and more.

According to last year's US Dietary Guidelines, nutrient dense and plant-based foods, including whole grains, should be a part of a healthy lifestyle.

Quaker SuperGrains Instant Hot Cereal has a mixture of oats, barley, rye, flax and quinoa, and is offered as a convenient instant oatmeal pouch in honey almond or apple and cinnamon flavours.

Each serving contains 7g of protein from a blend of grains, whey and seed;, 5g of fibre; and a good source of ALA Omega-3 from flax.

Every bowl of Quaker Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola contains a blend of super grains and seeds, as well as sweet fruit pieces and crunchy nuts.

With oats, wheat, flaxseed, quinoa, sunflower seeds, amaranth and barley in every pack, Quaker Real Medleys SuperGrains Granola can be consumed with milk, or on its own as a snack.

It is available in cinnamon apple walnut and blueberry pecan flavours, with each serving containing 28g of whole grains and a good source of fibre. It contains 8g of fat in every half-cup serving.

The products are available for a suggested retail price of $4.19 and $3.99 respectively.

Last week, PepsiCo stated that its focus on product innovation had helped it in achieving organic revenue growth in the first quarter.

In March, the firm introduced Quaker Breakfast Flats to meet the growing demand for nutritious morning snacks, reported Just-food.com.
