Core Tip: Our ambition is to produce healthy food that is affordable, creates economic and social value and nurtures natural ecosystems through sustainable agriculture.
Yogurt maker The Dannon Company (Dannon) has pledged to improve sustainable agriculture practices for its milk supply, increase transparency for its product portfolio, and shift to more natural and fewer ingredients for flagship brands in the US.

With this aim in mind, It intends to work with its dairy farmer partners and suppliers to implement sustainable agriculture practices and technology that leads to improved soil health and water management, reduced carbon emissions and increased biodiversity.

Dannon has also committed that it will use fewer and more natural, non-GMO and non-synthetic ingredients in all its products under three flagship brands, namely Dannon, Oikos and Danimals. These collectively account for 50% of the company's current volume.

In order to provide full transparency to its consumers, Dannon also intends to declare the presence of GMO ingredients in its products on labels nationwide by next December.

The company stated that the impact of these announcements will be seen from July.

Starting next year and completing the transformation by the end of 2018, Dannon will work with its farmer partners to provide non-GMO feed for cows.

Dannon president and CEO Mariano Lozano said: "Our ambition is to produce healthy food that is affordable, creates economic and social value and nurtures natural ecosystems through sustainable agriculture."
