A mango dehydration plant recently installed in the municipality of Tapachula started marketing and exporting dehydrated mango to the United States and Europe.
According to a statement from the state government, the Naturafrut Bautista company, which required an investment of more than 22 million pesos, not only adds value to one of the products for which Chiapas is known worldwide -the Ataulfo mango-, but it also creates jobs.
He stressed that the mango harvested in the Soconusco region was a world class fruit, that the dehydration plant would give it an added value, and that 80 percent of staff employed in the plant were women.
The Secretary of Agriculture, José Antonio Aguilar Bodegas, said that Chiapas met plant health standards, which allowed them to harvest products of higher quality and be attractive to national and international markets.
He said the entity had also managed to speed up the red tape to open a business. Before, the process to open a business took 30 days or more, now this time has been reduced by 80 percent.
