In recent years, investment companies, agricultural enterprises and farms in the Kursk region have shown greater interest in cultivating potato, reports Fruit Inform, citing news from Russian planet.
This year, the region plans to produce more than 1 million tons of potatoes, of which the main share of production is concentrated in private farms and farms specifically for potato growing.
The biggest potato plantation, which measures 600 hectares is owned by SPK Leninskiy priziv. In the past year around 31,000 tons of potato was cultivated there.
In 2011, the company Agrofirma Yuzhnaya launched a potato project; now on an area of 250 hectares, they are growing different potato varieties, including seed potatoes.
