"Impacted by continuous hypothermia between last November and December, the fig trees planted outdoor in Northern China are seriously frozen. As a consequence, the fig maturity time was delayed about 10 days and its yield decreased around 10%. The good news is that the newly planted fig trees can contribute to some of the yields. Therefore, the whole market supply is rather stable with a slight price increase. When the yield season arrives in early July, its price is expected to stabilize to the same level as the same period of last year."Said Ms. Chen from Guoran Guomei Trade Co. Ltd.

"Our main varieties are Brooke red jelly fig and green figs. The brook red jelly figs get mature in mid-June, and they swarm the market by early July and can last until the end of the following January. As a contract, green figs come to the market later than brook red jelly figs, normally between mid-August and early December.

"In China, the main growing region for green figs is mainly in Weihai city in Shandong province, while brook red jelly figs are widely planted across the whole country except the Xinjiang area. The challenge for fig sales occurs during the process of transportation due to their thin skin property; they can easily be damaged during the shipment and are not conducive for long term transportation and sales. With the help of China Fig Industry Alliance platform, the company can cooperate with all the organic fig cultivation bases remotely. We can collect figs according to their maturity level and set up picking standards for uniformed harvesting, packaging and delivery process. Through this we can distribute figs according the distance between the origins of the figs and the customer's location, and we can guarantee the quality and tastes of our figs."

"Founded in 2013, our company specializes in both the supply and the sales of figs. With our registered brand mark Psyche, we have occupied quite some market share and we have a lot of market potentials2," Ms. Chen further explained.

"The company has an area of 1 acre of a miniature Demonstration Park in Fangshan region in Beijing city, where 13 different fig varieties are planted to demonstrate the growing process of our organic figs to our customers. Next to this, we have 9 organic fig cultivation bases in Hebei, Shangdong provinces and Tianjin & Beijing directly administered cities. Our main plantation area is based in Weihai city."

"The figs will be packed in our warehouses after the harvest, and they will be distributed through our cold chain distribution system as soon as possible. A majority of them will be sold by wholesalers from Beijing Xifadi market, and around 5% of our figs are sold through an e-commerce platform. Though e-commerce will be one of our important platforms in the future, we are not focusing on overseas markets at the moment due to some constraints on the transportation. As fresh figs are gaining more and more popularity in the market due to it's scarcity, we believe our company will speed up in the fruit industry and keep achieving milestones for our business development."
