Lidl recalls three products due to undeclared allergens

Lidl UK has recalled three of its products as they contained undeclared allergens which could pose health risk to consumers.

The recalled products are Bavarian Style Smoked Cheese with Ham, Bread Baking Mix and Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts contain wheat, rye, barley (gluten), milk or hazelnuts, which have allergic properties.

Lidl has also issued point-of-sale notices to its customers. The supermarket chain is recalling the said products from customers and has also contacted several allergy support organizations which can pass on the information to their members about the recall.

The company has urged consumers who have purchased the products not to consume them and to return them at the place of purchase for a full refund.

Other products of Lidl are not affected by the recall.

While Bavarian Style Smoked Cheese 150g sold under the brand name HamMeine Käserei with 'Use by' date 30 May 2016 contains undeclared allergen - milk, Bread Baking Mix (Sunflower Seed, Ciabatta, Farmhouse and Rustic Wholemeal) 1kg pack sold under the brand name Belbake carrying 'Best before' dates of 4 March 2017, 13 March 2017, 16 March 2017, 24 March 2017 has been found to have undeclared allergens such as wheat, rye, barley (gluten).

Fin Carre brand's Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts 100g with 'best before' date of 23 December 2016 contains undeclared ingredients such as milk and hazelnuts, which are likely to cause allergic reactions.

The company states that these products do not carry information of these allergens on the labels and hence are considered as health risk to anyone with allergy or intolerance to one or any of the allergens.
