Mumbai's first Food Truck Festival- 'Food Truck Square' will mark its debut on Friday at Courtyard, High Street Phoenix in Mumbai. The festival is a joint initiative by The Food Truck Association(TFTA), Mumbai Foodie, OPA Hospitality and High Street Phoenix to showcase the best of Mumbai's food truck.

Food Truck Square will debut this Friday and Saturday, 12 pm onwards at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai’s favourite lifestyle destination. The festival will present over 10 food trucks that have been creating waves in our city's foodscape and deliver a new, culturally rich food experience to everyone who wants to indulge in a true street adventure. From American gourmet sandwiches to Lebanese delicacies, from Mexican quick eats to the best desserts - Food Truck Square will bring forth the most delicious cuisines that are rolling out on our streets in one central location for you to try, one bite at a time.

In order to pledge their case with Mumbai's governmental authorities, TFTA will also create a second installation in the form of an 'appeal board' that will allow patrons and food lovers to pledge their support or voice their concerns against Food Trucks via 'Yay or Nay' columns in order to expedite legislation regarding Food Trucks in our city.

"We need to give Mumbai's Food Truck Culture the impetus it deserves. Food Tourism is touted to be the next big league for India and is rapidly ascending as the newest, most promising value proposition for the hospitality industry country wide. This festival was conceptualised to serve as our mouthpiece to pledge to Mumbai's law bodies that Food Trucks are safe, valuable and here to stay." says Shubham Chaudhuri, president, The Food Truck Association.

“Food trucks are one-stop, four-wheel shops with signature dishes from every corner of the globe. World over, they are now being integrated into major events and festivals as a way to attract young attendees and to increasing awareness for different cultures and their cuisines. Our truck is loved by Mumbaikars across age groups and pocket sizes - and these shows! Our idea behind co-curating this festival was to bring the best food of this city to your doorstep - one food truck at a time." says Ashish Sajnani, director, OPA Hospitality Bombay Food Truck and co-curator of Mumbai's first food truck festival.

"We are always keen on exploring new experiences in the culinary space, whether it be a festival, food trail, tour or launch. We look for food ideas that are off the beaten path and co-curating this festival, gave us the perfect platform to bring that belief to reality. Food trucks are fast changing Mumbai's dining scene and being the first endeavour of this nature has us duty-bound to showcase and bring together the best of our city's food-truck culture," Ronak Rajani, founder, Mumbai Foodie and co-curator, Food Truck Festival.

While speaking on hosting the first ever Food Truck Square, Rajendra Kalkar, president- west, The Phoenix Mills Limited, said, “High Street Phoenix has always thrived to offer options and varieties to the patrons which they may have not experienced in the past. We have hosted events such as Itsy Bitsy- again a property of Mumbai Foodie, Dessert Garden, Totem Pole, Lil Flea Hangover amongst others. With a unique concept by Mumbai’s first food Truck festival, we hope to see a good response from our customers who are always ready to explore something new and unique every time that we offer.”
