In just under a year of being put to the test, the French Banana concept has reached the 1,000 store mark. Since the end of April 2016, 1,1013 supermarkets and hypermarkets have taken on the concept which sees bananas tied together by a red, white and blue ribbon. The bananas are no longer sold by the kilo, but in bunches of 3,4,5 or 6 with a barcode, which is more practical for consumers than having to weigh the fruit.

Sales currently reach 225,000 bunches per week, i.e. over one million bananas a week. Increases in the coming months should lead sales by the end of December 2016 to reach over 600,000 bunches per week, i.e. a weekly 3 million bananas. In 2017, the 1 million bunch a week aim should be reached in almost 5,000 stores (as of September 2017). One million bunches represents about 5 million bananas being sold every week- all with the “French Banana” brand and concept!
