According to source from South Korea, Kim Jong-un authority sells its fishing rights in sea areas in both sides of Korean Peninsula at 75 million US dollars to Chinese fishing boats to enlarge its governing finances.

Nearly a thousand of China fishing boats fish in the Korean Peninsula sea area

Intelligence agencies in South Korea government confirmed that nearly 900-1, 000 fishing boats carried out fishing near the Northern Limit Line in east sea area of Korean Peninsula. After analyzing, it proved that China had already procured the fishing right from North Korea, following the west sea area fishing rights purchasing.

The source believed that North Korea had sold fishing rights to more than 2, 500 fishing boats from China, securing up to 75 million US dollars.Foodspath Korean Peninsula

“It sold Korean Peninsula fishing rights by intermediary trade before, but the government may involve itself in the business in the future,” said the source from South Korea government.

On 1st July, South Korea National Intelligence Service (NIS) stated that North Korea would sold fishing rights to Chinese fishing boats every year, but the quantity of the boats, more than 1, 500, was three times that before.

Sources also mentioned that Kim Jong-un encouraged people to carry out fishing operation after he was in power, but he sold the fishing rights in both sides of Korean Peninsula to China to expand its governing money, which is extremely contradictory. The decision would not only decrease the fisheries resources but also damage biological environment.
Some analysts thought that North Korea wanted to increase earnings after hit by the strict sanction imposed by international society, who, therefore, decided to sell the fishing right in both sides to Chinese fishing boats.

Fishing boats in North Korea are old and short of fuel with low operating efficiency, which, however, can’t export the fish because of the sanction, even though they had caught fishes in the sea areas.
