According to Japanese Customs statistics, Japan imported a total of 613 tonnes of roasted eel products, 98.4% of the total in the same month last year, and the average price was 1, 945 Yen/KG. 584 tonnes of the total were from China mainland, 93.9% of that in last year, whose average price was 1, 919 Yen/KG and the other 29 tonnes were imported from other regions.
From January to September in 2016, Japan imported a total of 12, 395 tonnes of roasted eel while most of them, 12, 112 tonne, were from China mainland, similar as that in last year.
In 2015, Japan imported 622 tonnes roasted eel, whose average price was 2, 568 Yen/kg; in 2014, 219 tonnes, average price 2, 460 Yen/kg; in 2013, 450 tonnes, average price 2, 664 Yen/kg; n 2012, 265 tonnes, average price 3, 004 Yen/kg; in 2011, 610 tonnes, average price 2, 684 tonnes; in 2010, 1, 008 tonnes, average price 1, 679 Yen/kg. Overall, the lowest average price appeared in 2010 in last 6 years, which was also the top year with regard to import quantity and followed by 2015.
