Nutricia International Pvt Ltd (Danone India) recently launched a new mango-flavoured variant of Protinex, its leading adult nutrition Health Food Drinks (HFD) brand, in keeping with its mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible.
Protinex has a rich heritage of six decades. With this innovation, Danone aims to address protein deficiency by providing a protein supplement in a new flavour which is loved by Indian consumers.
Speaking about the launch of Protinex Mango, Himanshu Bakshi, managing director, Danone India, said, “At Danone, we are committed to introduce products that match the local nutritional and taste requirements.”
“The new flavour resonates amongst Indians across age groups, and we are hopeful that consumers will adopt it in their daily diet, as it unites the twin benefit of taste and nutrition,” he added.
“Protinex is the market leader in adult nutrition segment, and has managed to build a strong consumer trust over the years with its adult nutrition portfolio, as well as the infant nutrition offerings with advanced science,” Bakshi said.
Protinex is a high-protein and low fat nutritional supplement with vital nutrients to support immunity, lean body mass and active ageing.
The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of protein for a healthy adult man and woman is 1g per kg body weight per day. However, in India, more than 70 per cent Indians are protein-deficient and 93 per cent of Indians are unaware of their ideal protein requirement as per a study conducted by Kantar IMRB in 2017.
“Protein is an important nutrient which is required for the overall well-being of an individual. It is important for several functions like repairing and building of tissues, acting as enzymes and supporting immune system,” said Nandan Joshi, head, nutrition science and medical affairs, Danone India.
“Inadequate protein intake in the diet, along with poor lifestyle, can lead to poor muscle health, which manifest in the form of fatigue in short term and loss of muscle mass over the long term.”
“It is paramount to introduce protein in daily diet through food and other health interventions like Protein supplements which help to plug in the gaps in diet. Doctors across India have trusted Danone products for the last six decades,” said Joshi.
In February 2019, Danone India introduced Protinex Lite for consumers who seek the benefit of both high protein and zero sugar.
In its endeavour to provide safe and nutritious food to consumers, Danone India has committed itself to FSSAI’s Eat Right Movement, and pledged to reduce added sugar in its Protinex portfolio by 20 per cent by 2020.
Protinex is available in several delicious flavours - Original, Chocolate, Vanilla, Fruit Mix and Elaichi.
Resonating with India’s love for the summer fruit, the mango variant is the latest addition to the Protinex portfolio.
