From Tuesday, the port of Santander will have a new regular line run by the company Cldn which will do the Santander-Rotterdam-Leixoes and Santander-Leixoes-Rotterdam routes, as reported by the port authority.
The new service will make two weekly calls, Sundays and Tuesdays, and is specialised in the transportation of 45-foot containers and trailers, offering the possibility of a door to door service.
The authorities believe that the initiative will provide businesses based in Cantabria and Castile-Leon with a new logistics alternative.
Main Port of Castile-Leon
The Port of Santander, as explained by the port authority, has historically been a gateway for the entrance and exit of most of Castile-Leon's industrial goods.
Currently, industrial sectors of great relevance for the region, such as the automotive and livestock farming industries, resort to Santander for their imports of raw materials and exports of manufactured products.
According to the port authority, the current use of containers as a mode of transport caused companies in Castile-Leon to have limited logistical possibilities, so "the launch of Cldn's new line will help give a boost to this sector," said the statement.
