Dr. Koji Ishiguro from the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization has found that leftover water from processing sweet potatoes may help people who are looking to shed a little of extra weight. The inspiration behind the research came when they realized the massive amount of water being wasted after the production of some 105 million metric tons every year around the world.

They decided to test the health benefits of the protein rich water in mice and their discoveries were surprising. While causing a slimming effect on the mice it also helped them with their digestion. The researchers hope that the brew will have the same effect on humans once more research is done.
