Lotte Confectionery has commenced Choco Pie production at its new plant in New Delhi.
The company announced plans to set up the plant in February last year. This is its second facility to produce the chocolate-coated mini-cake. The firm has been producing Choco Pie at its plant in Chennai since 2010.
Lotte invested KRW70bn ($59.2m) in plant, which has the capacity to produce close to KRW60bn ($50.7m) worth of Choco Pies every year.
The new plant will allow the company to cater to the increasing consumer demand for Choco Pie in the country.
Lotte Group chairman Shin Dong-bin was quoted by The Korea Times as saying: "Lotte Confectionery has sought expansion in India since 2004 and the second plant means our hard work paid off.
"I will do my best to make Lotte the most favorite confectionery brand in India."
Lotte anticipates that its Choco Pie sales would increase to KRW100bn ($84.6m) this year and KRW180bn ($152.3m) by 2018.
