The SoyNut Butter Company, which recalled all I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter and Granola products earlier this week after a multistate E. coli O157:H7 outbreak was linked to their foods, has expanded that recall. Now, Dixie Diner’s Club brand Carb Not Beanit Butter is being recalled because it may also be contaminated with the pathogenic bacteria. This product is only available through mail order or internet sales.
All Best Buy dates of the Dixie Diner’s Club Carb Not Beanit Butter are recalled. Those dates are available on the labels of the containers stamped in black. There is no word on whether or not any illnesses have been linked to this recalled product.
The outbreak linked to the I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter products has sickened at least 16 people in 9 states. Eight of the ill persons have been hospitalized, and five have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure.
If you bought this product, do not eat it. This product has a long shelf life and may be in your pantry. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged package so animals and other people can’t eat it, or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
